As of last Friday, Facebook now allows their long-time rival, Google, access to its mobile app. The Wall Street Journal reports this new agreement will allow Google to crawl and index content from Facebook’s mobile app, meaning Google searches performed on mobile devices will display results from Facebook profiles. This will include such things as public profile information and business listings that connect to relevant Facebook pages through the use of “deep links.” This agreement between the two rival companies suggests that both see valuable prospects for one another in this new method of collaborative search optimization.
