Randall Rothenberg Gives Harsh Words to Ad-Blockers

advertising ceo does not like ad blockers

During a leadership meeting in Pam Desert, California, the president and CEO of the Interactive Advertising Bureau, Randall Rothenberg, gave a passionate keynote speech in which he expressed some very strong criticisms toward ad-blocking companies. Rothenberg described companies such as Adblock Plus as conglomerates who actively “obstruct competitive pricing data, information about product features, vital political options, site content, user options…and other intelligence necessary for the functioning of democratic capitalist societies.” Rothenberg’s controversial comments were received by the leaders of Adblock plus with communications manager Ben Williams stating that the company’s main interest is in “discovering better, more sustainable ways for publishers and content creators to get paid.” To learn more about Mr. Rothenberg’s comments, see Mike Sheilds’ Wall Street Journal article “IAB CEO Continues to Hammer Ad Blockers.”
