This may be great news for anyone advertising on AdWords. Today, Verizon announced that it has acquired Yahoo’s core internet business for $4.84 billion. After adding AOL to its portfolio last year, Verizon is hopeful that the merger of these once powerful internet giants will result in a stronger challenger behind Google and Facebook in terms of digital advertising revenue. Google has a monopoly on Paid Search and is ruthless with their terms and conditions. It would be positive for all advertisers if there were more competition in this area.
